I am an Occupational Therapist with over 18 years of experience assisting people with making lifestyle changes as a result of an injury or disability.
I was obese for a large portion of my of life. At one point I was diagnosised as "morbidly obese". If that wasn't enough, I was diagnosised with early on-set Diabetes. I was prescribed diabetic medication by my doctor and informed that if I did not lose weight quickly, I would soon become insulin dependent. My knowledge of Diabetes at that time was limited, however, my father was a Diabetic and as a result I watched him became visually impaired and a bilateral amputee. I knew that was not the life GOD had planned for me.
Like most people, I tried every diet and diet pill on the market. Some worked, but the side effects caused my weight to fluctuate, high blood pressure and persistent migraines.
At my heaviest weight of 365lbs, I realized I needed help. In 2010 I had gastric bypass surgery. The surgery was not a quick fix but a jump start to gain control of my eating and to learn how to listen to my body. I had to relearn how to eat for me. A year after my surgery, I was involved in a major car accident which caused multiple physical injuries and the placement of a feeding tube. I was physically unable to eat. My weight plummeted to under 120lbs.
It was during this time that I began to focus on my healing through the Word of God. I read and listened to healing scriptures. I read books on healing. I renewed my mind and my way of thinking to what GOD says about healing. I saturated my life with what GOD said about me and my health. I made my healing personal with GOD. 3rdJohn 1:2
I began to get stronger one day at a time. I developed small daily habits that included healthier food choices, walking, and the Word of God. With perseverance and consistency, walking turned into running!! Step by step!! Day by day!! I began incorporating the Word of God into my daily walking and running routines.
In 2013, God gave me the vision for "Women of GOD Run." He showed me women like myself, who loved Him, but, was having challenges managing their weight. As a result they were suffering with severe health problems. He guided me through a path of personal healing, so that I can now guide other women as they discover their path to healing and wholeness.
My healthy doesn't look like your healthy. We are all on different paths that require different tools and techniques to becoming better versions of ourselves. As your Health Coach, I will listen carefully and we’ll navigate the world of contradictory nutrition and health advice together to explore what truly works for you.
I am also a run instructor for "Run for God.- the 5k challenge" a guide to running and a twelve-week training plan aimed at running a 5k, with a Christian focus.
It is my heartfelt desire that sharing my journey will help other women who need a jump start to becoming the "Best Me That They Can Be".
